I love having the privilege to cook for a living. Food is a dynamic force in my life. It pushes my creativity all the time; it also drives my joy. Sometimes cooking can seem overly serious, while developing a menu for a restaurant, or coming up with a special. Even while cooking at home, working on a new recipe, that isn’t coming out exactly how I wanted it to. Other times, food is a great source of comfort. To be able to relax and enjoy a simple meal that reminds me of childhood is a great pleasure. Food is about community, love, and sharing. And sometimes, food is about enjoying the absolute goofiness of life. Whether that means driving over an hour to go eat at Red Lobster and write a five hundred word review, or spending an entire day making a giant mess in the kitchen to bring something into the world that nobody, literally nobody, was asking for.
